Paddlefest, presented by Midland’s Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, is a two-day festival that delves into the art and history of Canadian canoes. Through activities, such as traditional canoe building and waterway demonstrations, families will take part in live history lessons.

Children and adults alike will also be entertained by the storytelling of David Morris who will be taking on the persona of famous explorer Etienne Brulé. As well, the festival will be playing host to the popular “Survival in the Bush” for those brave enough to venture into the interactive encampment.

That same weekend Penetanguishene’s Discovery Harbour is presenting an event called BayField’s School of the Sailor. Similar to PaddleFest, visitors will be able to submerge themselves into Canadian history through interactive activities that demonstrate what it would be like to serve in the British Navy in the 19th century.

As well, families can experience a genuine Tall Ship. The beautiful St. Lawrence II, will be available all weekend for public viewing, along with a group of other smaller historic vessels.

Enjoy both festivals: attend one event at regular admission and receive 50% off an adult admission for the second event. Midland and Penetanguishene are located two hours north of Toronto.
